Password Help

Why is my password being rejected?

There are several reasons that your password could be rejected. Here are a few of the more common ones

  1. Your password is being typed incorrectly. Erase your password and retype it.
  2. You're not entering the correct username. Be sure that you're entering your access ID (not your real name).
  3. You've used a capital letter in your username or password. Your username and password must be entirely in lower case.
  4. There's one or more spaces before or after your username. Check to be sure that there are no spaces in or around your username.
  5. You may have checked "encrypted password" in your dialup networking configuration. Be sure that it's unchecked.

Why is the save password box grayed out?

Sometimes the Save Password box is grayed out and will not allow the password to be saved. You should try to install the Client for Microsoft Networks :

Please Note: You will need your Windows 95/98 disks or CD-ROM to install the client.

  1. Click on the Start button, select Settings and click on the Control Panel.
  2. Click on the Network icon in the Control Panel
  3. This will bring up the Network box
  4. Click on the Add button
  5. Double click on Client
  6. Under Manufactures click on Microsoft
  7. Under Network Client click on Client for Microsoft Network
(At this point the system may prompt you to insert your Windows 95 disks or CD-ROM)
  8. When finished click on OK to close the Network Client Box
  9. Click OK to close the Network box
  10. You will now need to restart your computer for the changes to take effect.
